Ajax joins forces with Good Hope FM and NSFAS

Ajax Cape Town joined forces with Good Hope FM and NSFAS in an initiative aimed at providing High School learners financial assistance to study further, and to make them aware of job opportunities that are available in the market.
The road shows took place at four different venues across the Western Cape, every Friday between 12 and 3pm.
The road shows took place on 5th February 2010 at Fezeka High School Guguletu, 12th February 2010 at Oliver Tambo High School, Khayelitsha with Intlanganiso and Luhlaza High Schools, 19th February 2010 at Westridge High School and finally on the 26th February 2010 at Heideveld High School.
At each of the road shows Good Hope FM performed a live broadcast from the selected school with each role player giving a presentation.
NSFAS (The National Student Financial Aid Scheme) is an SA Government-funded loan & bursary scheme that offers loans at low interest rates with reasonable repayment plans.
The Scheme is available to all SA citizens’ studying for their 1st higher education qualification at a public higher education institution in SA.
In return the learner must be able to demonstrate potential for academic success based on exam results. They must also be in need of financial assistance as determined by the National Means Test.
The University of the Western Cape was also in attendance to inform the learners of the courses that they have to offer and the qualification needed to be accepted at the institute.
Ajax Cape Town lead by PRO Shooz Mekuto and the Community Coaching team set up a station at each event enabling the learners to register themselves in the Ajax data base and in return receiving an Ajax goodie bag.
They were also afforded the opportunity of asking questions to the team regarding any career paths in the soccer field.
The highlight of each event was the arrival of the Ajax players who performed a signing session for an hour. They signed posters, school shirts, and even body parts. Their reception at each event was heart-warming.
The Road Shows proved to be a great success. It showed the learners that their dreams can become a reality.
Do not say NO to further education due to financial constraints as assistance can be provided. Don’t wait till the last minute.
